Dr Peter Johnstone

Currently
Dr Johnstone performs all orthopaedic procedures. He specialises in all Knee, Hip and Shoulder orthopaedic conditions.
In 1996 Dr Johnstone established his private practice at the Mater Medical Centre, Brisbane. He performs surgery at The Mater Private Hospital. Dr Johnstone also holds a Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon position at the QE 11 Hospital since 1996, and operates there on a weekly basis. Dr Johnstone is responsible for formal and informal teaching of Junior Medical Officers and AOA training registers and allied health professionals.
Dr Johnstone is a member of the Medico Legal Society of Queensland and became a certified Independent Medical Examiner (American Board of Independent Examiners), 2004.
Dr Johnstone is also a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a Fellow of Australian Orthopaedic Association.
Medical Background
Dr Johnstone obtained his medical degree from Otago University in 1982 and his Advanced training Orthopaedic Fellowship in 1990. In 1992, Dr Johnstone completed a Post Graduate Bone and Allograft Fellowship with Dr David Morgan, working exensively in Primary Hip, Knee and Revision Joint Replacement. Dr Johnstone then took up the public position as Director of Orthopaedics at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, from 1993 to 1996. Dr Johnstone was also a Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Australian Defence Force from 1996 to 2000.
Personal Interests
Dr Johnstone has been happily married for 19 years and has 3 teenage children. My sports and recreation include snow skiing, water skiing, tennis, fishing and motor sports.
